Carlo P. Colombo 1938-2020

Carlo P. Colombo 82, of Solvay, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 20th, 2020 at St. Camillus surrounded by his loving family. Two months to the day after his wife Barbara passed. He was born in Syracuse to the late Pietro and Emelia (Naggi) Colombo in 1938. He graduated from Solvay High School. He then joined the Army. He worked for Niagara Mohawk for 32 years and retired from there in 1992 and then worked for 25 years at his favorite part-time job helping the families during their time of grief at Bagozzi Twins Funeral Home. He took great pride in helping all the families from near and far to celebrate their loved ones life. He also cherished the second family that he had with all the employees at the funeral home. He was a member of the Solvay Tyrol Club, Geddes Vets, the Solvay Hilltop Club, the Solvay Tigers AC, and the St. Cecilia’s Church Council. He was a communicant of St. Marianne Cope Parish-St. Cecilia Church.


Henry “Hank” Bresadola Jr. 1946-2007

Henry L. "Hank" Bresadola Jr., 60, of Westvale, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2007  at home. A life resident of Syracuse, he graduated from Solvay High School and SUNY Canton. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1966-68. He was employed by Key Bank for 30 years, retiring as vice president in 1999, and has worked for Bagozzi Twins Funeral Home for the past three years. He was a longtime member of the Tyrol Club of Solvay. He was a past member of the Solvay-Geddes-Camillus Kiwanis, Solvay Tigers AC and Community Youth Center. Henry was an avid hunter, fisherman and pool player.


Benancio "Benny" Fernandez 1916-2007

Benancio "Benny" Fernandez, 90 of Solvay, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center. A life resident of Solvay, he was a US Army Veteran of World War II. He worked at Allied Chemical in Solvay for 42 years before retiring as an Operator in the ACL in 1981. He also worked at Bagozzi Twins Funeral Home in Solvay for over 50 years. Benny was a member of the Allied Chemical 40 years Club, Solvay Senior Citizens, Solvay- Geddes Veterans and the Stanley B. Pennock VFW Post 2893. He was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church in Solvay. Benny was predeceased by his son, Thomas in 1998.


Rocco “Rocky” Checola 1915-2007

Rocco J. Checola, 91, of Solvay, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2007 at home. Born on the West End of Syracuse, he lived in Solvay for 58 years and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Rocky was a foreman at Allied Chemical Corporation in Solvay for 40 years, retiring in 1978. He was also a cherished employee of Bagozzi Twins Funeral Home for 30 years. His memberships included the Geddes Veterans Association, Solvay Tigers AC, Solvay-Geddes Community Youth Center, The Hill Top Club, The Tyrol Club of Solvay and the former 23 Club. A communicant of St. Cecilia's Church, he was head usher and a member of its Holy Name Society. Rocky was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Rose (DeLucia), in August 2006.


Silvio D. Bagozzi 1903-1965
Fiori E. Bagozzi 1903-1975

In 1931, Silvio and Fiori Bagozzi, believed to be the first registered twin funeral directors in the country, founded Bagozzi Twins Funeral Home in a small building on the 2200 block of Milton Avenue in Solvay. A few short years later, they moved to the next block into a house. The first floor was their funeral home and Silvio and his wife, Elizabeth, lived upstairs, where Stephen D. Bagozzi was born in 1939. After purchasing another building in 1945, Silvio and Fiore moved their business to its present location at 2601 Milton Avenue.
