NICHOLAS ANTHONY TROPEA

Nicholas Anthony Tropea, age 95, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, in Cicero, New York. Born on March 16, 1930, in Harrison, New York, Nick lived a long and meaningful life defined by devotion to his family, service to his country and community, and a lifelong love of the casino. Nick was the beloved son of Frank and Susan (Donato) Tropea. He graduated from White Plains High School in Westchester County, where he developed the strong work ethic and sense of responsibility that would guide him throughout his life. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Army before beginning a distinguished 40-year career at General Electric. During his tenure at GE, Nick held various positions and earned a reputation for his reliability, dedication, and integrity. On February 14, 1953, Nick married the love of his life, Barbara Mazzeo (daughter of John and Agnes Mazzeo). Together they shared 63 years of marriage filled with love, respect, and unwavering devotion until Barbara’s passing. Their enduring partnership was an inspiration to all who knew them. Nick was a devoted and loving father to his children: Frank (Debbie) Tropea, John (Linda) Tropea, and Nancy Tropea. He took great pride in his grandchildren—Matthew (Jennifer), Nicole (Douglas Scott), and Michael (Alexa) Tropea, Jacob and Jordan Dunn, Brandon (Tierney) and Kyle (LeAnna) Tropea, James Venditti and Steven (Katie) Carter and Kerry Carter—and was a cherished great-grandfather to nine great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy in his later years. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who held him dear. A passionate sportsman, Nick found joy and peace on the golf course and was a lifelong, devoted New York Yankees fan and Syracuse University Sports who rarely missed a game. His love of sports extended well beyond being a fan. Nick generously gave back to his community by coaching baseball and basketball for many years with the Solvay Tigers AC, as well as basketball for St. Cecilia’s CYO teams. Through his coaching, he positively influenced countless young athletes with patience, encouragement, and enthusiasm. Above all, with his quick wit and great sense of humor Nick cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether attending their sporting events or sharing stories and laughter around the dinner table, these moments were among his most treasured. Nicholas Anthony Tropea will be remembered for his steadfast devotion to family, his commitment to youth and community through sports, and his enduring love for the game of baseball. His memory will continue to bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know him. Family and friends may call from 9:00 – 9:45 AM Friday January 2, 2026 at St. Marianne Cope Parish – St. Cecilia Church with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM.
