FRED MARIO FRACHETTI

Freddie was born on Armstrong Road on September 9, 1924 and made it his lifelong home. Having waited for almost 3 years, he has finally been reunited with his beloved wife, Iva May at the blessed age of 95. He was the youngest son of Pietro and Giovanna Frachetti. He was a self-made man. After Fred served in Greenland with the Army, he started a small grinding business then spent his working career at Solvay Process. Following his retirement, he continued to stay busy working in the maintenance department at BOCES. Fred was also an active member of The Solvay Tyrol Club and The Solvay Geddes Vets and VFW #2893. Fred was known in his family for having unwavering grit and integrity. He remodeled his home, along with the homes and camps of many friends and family. He could fix anything, and came to anyone’s aid without hesitation. Fred loved woodworking and built with love, a collection of furniture and keepsakes that will be passed down for generations to come. He always made time to enjoy life to the fullest; he was determined to fish and hunt until he was physically unable. Fred taught us all that, “You have to earn respect” and he did that by modeling for us a life of meaning. He took pride in his entire family. Fred is survived by his two daughters, Cynthia Frachetti (Bill Sweredoski), and Deborah and Tony Grosso; along with five grandchildren: Brett Collett (Nicole), Leigh Butcher (Josef), Anthony Grosso (Karen), Ashley Vernyi (Tim) and Regina Grosso. He earned the name Nonno from his 6 great-grandchildren, Nina and Gwen Grosso, Koba, Mario, and Sasha Vernyi and Macy Mrstik. Fred was honored to have birth name passed to his great-grandson Mario. He was fortunate to have thoughtful nieces and nephews who remembered him with cards and visits and blessed with his cherished life-long friends, Albert and Sylvia, Dan and Liz, and John Salvagno who were family to him. A heartfelt thank you to his trusted aid and friend, Kelly Brown, who we all grew to love over these past 3 years. A very special thank you to his niece, Doreen Failoni, who loved and supported Fred and his family through his last years of life. His family legacy will always be that Fred was a dedicated husband and best friend to his only love, Iva. We’re all at peace, knowing they are now together in their eternal home with Christ.
