FRANK S. CARELLI

Frank Salvatore Carelli Jr, 72, of Syracuse, New York, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife and children at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Frank faced his illness with remarkable courage, humor, and a smile that never faded. Born in Solvay, New York, on December 15, 1953, Frank was the son of the late Frances (Pucello) Carelli and Frank Carelli, Sr. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Mary Ann Lasinski and his brothers, Ralph Carelli and Michael Carelli. Frank began his distinguished career as a lobbyist in Washington, D.C., for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW), where he tirelessly advocated for workers’ rights, human rights, protections, and freedoms. He retired in 2015 as the Director of Government Employees for the IAMAW, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and leadership. A passionate Democrat, Frank enjoyed engaging in political debates and was always eager to discuss current events. He also loved cooking and was happiest preparing Sunday dinners for his family, bringing everyone together around the table. Frank’s love for animals was evident to all who knew him, especially in the bond he shared with his beloved dog, Vinny. He found great joy in traveling, exploring new places, and making memories with family and friends—especially during his winters in retirement spent in St. Martin. Frank is survived by his devoted wife, Melissa “Missy” (Czarny); his daughters Lisa Romeo, Laura (Christopher) Carelli-Lobo, and Maria Carelli; his son Frank (Carrie) Carelli III; his sister Francine (Robert) Carducci; his granddaughters Cecilia Lobo, Sophia Lobo, and Amelia Romeo; his grandson Christian Romeo; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be remembered for his unwavering determination, his sense of humor, and the love he shared with his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 9:30 AM Thursday February 12, 2026 at St. Marianne Cope Parish-St. Cecilia Church, 1001 Woods Rd, Solvay NY 13209.
