FRANCES (SGARLATA) DUSZAK

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frances E. Duszak, 94, who died peacefully on July 18th at St. Camillus. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her positive outlook, strength, kindness, strong mind, will, and religious faith. She faced life’s challenges with great strength and resilience, and lived a full, active life, loved and cherished by many friends and family. Never one to complain, she taught each of us to be strong and thankful for each and every day. Her greatest passion was her unconditional dedication, celebration and love of her daughter Francine, son-in-law Robert and grandchildren Cory and Christopher, who she loved so dearly. She will be greatly missed. Retired from JP Morgan Chase Bank, Frances was a voracious reader of books, magazines and newspapers and belonged to a book club discussion group. She held memberships in many organizations, including St. Marianne Cope Church, its’ Altar & Rosary Society and was a former member of the funeral choir. She also was a member of Solvay Tigers Auxiliary, the Geddes Veterans Auxiliary, Piercefield Womens’ Club, Geddes Senior Citizens group and Chase Bank Retirees Club. She was a past member of Westhill Country Club golf league, several bridge clubs and a former volunteer at Community Hospital. Her favorite times were spent with family and friends, and the many trips and adventures she shared with them. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank in 1982, her parents, Robert and Concetta (Zullo) Sgarlata, sister, Rose Fitzpatrick and brother-in-law, Jim Fitzpatrick. She is survived by her daughter, Francine and son-in-law, Robert Snyder, grandchildren, Cory (Mark) Snyder-Reppi, Christopher Snyder, brothers, Frank and Robert (Eileen) Sgarlata, several nieces and nephews. At her request there will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass to celebrate her life at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 22nd at St Marianne Cope Parish-St. Cecilia Church, 1001 Woods Rd, Solvay. Private burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Please note that face coverings are required, social distancing and gathering guidelines will be observed.
