DOROTHY (KRASCELLA) DACK

Dorothy Julia (Krascella) Dack, 89, of Fairmount, NY, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024 at Syracuse Home at McHarrie Place, Baldwinsville. Dorothy was raised in the Westvale area, the daughter of Julia (Pishko) and Theodore Krascella, sister of Nicholas Krascella. She graduated from Solvay High School in the early 1950’s where she met and later married her love, Kenneth E. Dack. They were married in 1954 and built a home in Fairmount. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church. She was predeceased by her parents, brother and husband. “Dotty” worked as a secretary for Atlantic Refining before starting her family and then taking some time to raise Michele and Jeffrey. She returned to ARCO and post-retirement, worked for Gypsum Express. After fully retiring, she volunteered at E.C.H.O. Meals on Wheels where she made many new friends. Dotty was active in the Fairmount Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary during the years Ken was a firefighter. As a couple, they enjoyed their many friends from the fire department and time on the St. Lawrence River. Initially, they docked the Break Aweigh at Bonnie Castle and later, they owned a summer camp in the Thousand Islands Trailer Park on Blind Bay in Clayton, NY. Dotty had several hobbies including gardening, beading, reading, puzzling and she loved to fish! She had a dog for most years of her life and loved them all, Sammy, Snoopy, Chien and Scruffy. Grammy loved her grandchildren, Maxwell, Joclyn and Cole and later, her great grandboyz, four of them! She always had a smile for the grands, even when she was not quite sure who we all were anymore. She is survived by her children; Michele Dack, of Liverpool; Jeffrey Dack (Melissa McElwain), of Baldwinsville; grandchildren, Maxwell Sheer, of Baldwinsville, Joclyn Wiley (Bradley Wiley), of Jordan and Cole Dack, of Baldwinsville; great grandboyz, Jayce Butler-Sweenie, Asa Wiley and Boston Wiley, of Jordan and Maximus Sheer, of Baldwinsville. The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to all the caring staff at Syracuse Home who got us through Mom’s last several years, making her as comfortable as possible. Family and friends may call from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM Wednesday May 22, 2024 at Holy Family Church, Fairmount, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated immediately following at 10 AM.
