RODNEY P. GOODRICH

September 8, 1959 - February 6, 2021

Rodney P. Goodrich, 61, of Solvay, NY passed away peacefully in his home the morning of February 6, 2021 surrounded by his family after a courageous fight with brain cancer. Rod was born in Malone, NY; but soon after his family moved to the Syracuse area. He grew up in Lakeland and graduated from Solvay High School in 1977. He worked as an assembler for over 20 years at New Venture Gear. Rod is remembered as a competitive athlete, avid golfer, knowledgeable sports fan and dependable friend. His greatest treasure was his family. He never missed any of his children’s sporting events or school functions, often driving far distances or sacrificing hours of sleep to support them. They were his pride and joy. The light of his life these last few years was his granddaughter Jenny Rose, who never ceased to make her Papa smile. Rod was predeceased by his parents Donald and Eleanor Goodrich, brother Randy Goodrich, father-in-law Robert J. Petosa and brother-in-law James Petosa. Rod is survived by his wife of 38 years, Roberta (Petosa) Goodrich, his children Brian and Eric Goodrich of Syracuse, Jessica and John Burt Jr. of Baldwinsville, granddaughter Jenny Burt, brother Dennis (Linda) Goodrich of Syracuse, sister, Donna (Garry) Acchione of Solvay, mother-in-law Joanna Petosa of Solvay, brother-in-law Paul Petosa of Atlanta Ga, sister-in-laws Marianne (Mark) Hatch and Theresa Petosa, both of Solvay, Christine Petosa of Baldwinsville, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 pm on Thursday February 11th at St. Marianne Cope Parish - St. Cecilia Church, 1001 Woods Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 am Friday, February 12th at St. Marianne Cope Parish–St. Cecilia Church, Solvay. Private interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lakeland. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North St, Liverpool, New York 13088 or Upstate Cancer Center/Upstate Foundation (www.upstatefoundation.org) 750 E. Adams St. #CAB326 Syracuse, New York 13210. Facial coverings and distancing are required and NYS guidelines on gatherings will be observed.
