ROBERT ANTHONY LEO

April 14, 1944 - February 26, 2017

Robert A. Leo, 72, of Onondaga Hill, passed away Sunday, February 26th at Upstate University Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Syracuse to the late Anthony and Josephine (Russo) Leo. He was a 1961 graduate of Solvay High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1981 from SUNY Utica Rome. He served in the US Army from 1968-1970 with the 7th Infantry Division as a dog handler stationed in Korea. He retired from the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department in 1992 as Lieutenant. His second career was as Security Director at Shoppingtown Mall. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Joan Teeter. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 50 years, the former Carole Chairvolotti and his cherished children, Robert Leo and Kristen (Daniel) Lounsbery, his treasured grandchildren, Claire and Nicholas Leo, Emma, Daniel and Aiden Lounsbery, and sister-in-law, Sharon (David) Catapano and their family. Funeral services will be held 9:15 am Thursday, March 2, 2017 at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, Solvay and 10:00 am at The Church of St. Michael and St. Peter, Onondaga Hill, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal and burial with military honors will follow in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Ave. Donations may be made in his memory to The Church of St. Michael and St. Peter, 4782 W.
