NICHOLAS J. PETRELLA

July 18, 1924 - January 7, 2021

Nicholas J. Petrella, 96, of Solvay, passed away Thursday January 7th at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was born in Syracuse to the late Carmen and Josephine (Cerio) Petrella in 1924. As a member of our Greatest Generation, Nick proudly served his country during WW II with the US Army. He worked many years as a photographer for the NYS Department of Public Works and the NYS Department of Transportation before retiring. He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Beth (White), son, Nicholas A. Petrella, granddaughter, Angelina Petrella and sister, Virginia Pilch. He is survived by his daughter, Marybeth (Tom) Bonczek, of College Station, TX, sons; Dan (Sharon) and Jim (Karen), both of Liverpool, 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law; Geraldine Petrella, of San Angelo, TX and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 am Tuesday at St. Marianne Cope Parish-St. Cecilia Church, Solvay. Private interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. Face masks are required and NYS guidelines on distancing will be followed. BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, has care of arrangements.
