Neva Jeanne "Gigi" (Kermes) Glinski, 74, of Solvay, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday. Born in Syracuse, Jeanne grew up on Tipperary Hill and was a 1965 graduate of Central Technical High School. She worked for several years as a paralegal assistant, and then, after starting a family, sold Home Interiors and Avon Products out of her home. Once her children were all in school full time, she went on to work for 30 years as the clerk for the Solvay Police Department, where she would bring in coffee and treats for the officers, who she always referred to as her "other sons." Although she enjoyed going away on short vacations and casino trips, Jeanne was happiest when she was at home taking care of her family, her dogs and the many guests who stopped by to visit at all hours of the day and night. While her husband told jokes and stories to their company, Jeanne herself rarely sat, constantly covering the table with a wide variety of foods and making sure that no coffee mug ever went empty. She never missed a baseball or hockey game or any school function and did everything in her power to make birthdays and holidays special. She always gave of herself to others and never asked for anything for herself. She was predeceased by her husband of nearly 50 years, Tony "Butch" Glinski, her parents, Jack and Fay (Sagarella) Kermes, her parents-in-law, Alpha and Anna (Pucello) Stanley, and a sister-in-law, Diana (Broome) Kermes. Jeanne is survived by her sons, Tony and David of Lakeland, and Michael of Solvay; brothers, John C. Kermes, of Marcellus and Michael (Susan) Kermes, of Florida; granddaughters, Jillian and Kendall, of Lakeland; sisters-in-law, Rae (Lee) Hogsten and Bea Stanley, of Kentucky and many beloved aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. Family and friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 pm Tuesday, October 26th at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Ave. Funeral services will be held 9:30 am Wednesday October 27th at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME. The Rite of Committal and entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Our Lady of Hope Mausoleum, DeWitt. Please share online tributes and memories at www.bagozzitwins.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Solvay Police Benevolent Association, POB 271, Solvay, NY 13209. Please share online memories and tributes at www.bagozzitwins.com.
