MARIANNE (CAMMUSO) HERNE
October 21, 1965 - April 5, 2022
“They whispered to her: You cannot withstand the Storm. She whispered back: I am the storm.” Marianne Grace Herne, age 56, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family after a 2-year battle with pancreatic cancer on April 5, 2022. Marianne was born in Syracuse, NY to Rick and Bev (Moore) Cammuso. Marianne graduated from West Genesee High School, Onondaga Community College (AAS), SUNY Plattsburgh (BS), and Le Moyne College (MS). She was a proud member of the West Genesee Colorguard and Alumni marching band. She proudly passed that passion on to her children who became active marching band and colorguard members of the Jordan-Elbridge Marching Band. Marianne was an active volunteer and chaperone, in addition to serving as the Assistant Band Director for three years. Marianne taught elementary education in the Syracuse Diocese at St. Matthews and Holy Family Elementary Schools and most recently was employed by the CNY DDSO as a Habilitation Specialist. Marianne loved camping in the Adirondacks (in a tent no less) with her family, quilting with her friends and daughter, and riding the Blue Angel (our Harley-Davidson) with her husband Tim and their friends Kenny and Sally. Marianne’s greatest love and passion was loving and caring for her family and everything that supported them. We are heartbroken and though we know that she lives within each one of us, we will miss her endlessly. Marianne was predeceased by her parents, an infant brother, Andrew, stepmother, Helen Gavin Cammuso, her grandparents, and several aunts, uncles and four legged children, Oreo and Sweet Pea. Surviving to cherish her loving memory are her husband of 34 years, Timothy Herne; their daughter, Kayla Herne (Adam Desimone); their son, Justin Herne; brother Thomas (Jenna) Cammuso; stepbrother, Steven Bostwick; stepsister Karen Bowman; sister-in-law, Gina Cammuso; an aunt, Assunta Cammuso; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; and countless friends along with her four legged children, Coco and Oliver. “I am so blessed and happy that during these last two months my loving husband and children were here to take care of me. I know it was difficult, but words cannot express how much I appreciate and love you all, Marianne”. The family would like to express their gratitude to Marianne’s care teams at Upstate Cancer Center in Syracuse, NY, Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, and Hospice of CNY. Per Marianne’s wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services. The family will host a private celebration of Marianne’s life at a later date. In remembrance of Marianne's life, charitable donations can be made to the Upstate Cancer Center (https://www.upstatefoundation.org/Cancer/Give) or the West Genesee Wildcat Alumni Marching Band (http://www.wgwildcatband.com/donate/). BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, Solvay, has care of arrangements. Please share online memories and tributes at www.bagozzitwins.com.
