September 26, 2000 - November 17, 2020
Magwinn Ransom Emmick (“Pickle”, “Bo”) passed away on November 16, 2020, in the home that he loved, and in the arms of his Mama. Born on a chaotic but joyful night at Crouse Hospital in September of 2000, Magwinn was rushed to the NICU, where he spent the first six months of his life, showing us right away that he was not a person to be underestimated. With a rare birth defect that affected his lungs and heart, his parents were not given great hope for a long life for him, nor any promises that it would be a full and happy one. With the guiding hearts and hands of his NICU doctors and nurses, specialists, pediatricians- specifically Dr. Remillard and Dr. Losito and their wonderful staff, his therapists Liz and Terri, and his friends and adoring family, he surpassed any expectations, and lived a very long, happy and loved 20 years. From the night of his birth, (and probably before!), Magwinn had a determination to fiercely conquer any and all challenges set before him. In his own time and with his unique way, he learned to walk, speak, play, read, ride in his dad’s bicycle cart, pet the farm animals, feed the giraffes, fly like a pirate in his boat swing, hold the hand of every person he met, say “hi” to every stranger, take car rides around town with his family, go through every drive-thru he could just to interact with the window attendant, and wait all year for “Lights on the Lake” to start. He loved classic Disney movies (especially Robin Hood), the Muppets (especially Kermit), Emmet Otter, cookie frosting, root beer, McDonald’s french fries, brown cows, donkeys, Mama’s chalkboard drawings for him, his cherished blanket, computer and never-empty cup of ice water. Magwinn has temporarily left behind his Lala, Erin R. Hill Emmick, Warners, NY, his Dada, Richard L. Emmick, Jr. Camillus, NY, his maternal Grandmother, Carol K. Hill, Warners, NY, his maternal Grandfather Robert H. Hill and his wife Dora S. Hill, Endwell, NY, paternal Grandfather Richard L. Emmick, Sr. Vestal, NY, paternal Grandmother Madelon C. Gibson, Binghamton, NY, Aunts Maureen, Michele and Mo, Uncles Bobby and John, and many loving cousins and friends. For many years, when Magwinn was away from the house he knew for most of his life for any length of time, he would let his family know it was time to return by saying “to my home!”. We know that our forever-child is now in the tender, loving arms of God, warm and resting within his little red house, and that he has arrived home at last. No service is planned at this time, but we ask that you celebrate Magwinn’s life by giving to a child in need. BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME has care of arrangements. Please share online memories and tributes at www.bagozzitwins.com.
