July 4, 1944 - September 30, 2021
Joseph P. Zampi, having fought the decades long battle of Parkinson's Disease with grace and dignity, peacefully passed away in his home surrounded by loved ones on September 30th. Born on the 4th of July, Joe grew into a brilliant man of many talents. As an athlete, he began his undergraduate studies in physical education, also became a school teacher, school administrator, then graduated law school. For many years, he was a successful attorney with his own law firm in San Diego, CA. Having been a fine musician, Joe played bugle and marched with the original Syracuse Brigadiers Drum and Bugle Corps, played trumpet in San Diego for years with Downbeat Big Band as well as other bands, and played events as a self-taught pianist. Several years ago, Joe became a born again Christian and was baptized at Shadow Mountain Community Church where he regularly attended. He was predeceased by his oldest brother, Arnold J. Zampi, to whom he was very close. Joe is survived by his loving caregiver and friend of many years, Martha Muro, four siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews.
