Joseph “Monk” Lamanna, Jr., 67, of Fairmount, passed away Monday at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. He was born in Syracuse to the late Joseph and Celestine (Proscio) Lamanna in 1950. Following his high school graduation he enlisted and served with the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a Dry Side Operator by Allied Chemical for over 30 years before retiring. Joe was a family man that enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, softball and was an SU sports fan. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, John. Joe is survived by his wife of 28 years, the former Connie Wall, children; Jolette Lamanna, Rae (David) Gassen, Joey (Kendra) Demperio, Nicole (Ryan) Struse, Denise and Stephanie Demperio, 14 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, 3 brothers; David (Judy), Michael (Anna) and Paul (Lisa) Lamanna and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends may call from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Avenue. Funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Chidren’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
