Joseph Iamondo, lifelong resident of Syracuse, peacefully passed away at the age of 96 on February 5th at Syracuse Home surrounded by his family. Joe was born July 14, 1925 to the late James and Antoinette (Chiarenza) Iamondo. He was a WWII army veteran serving with the 359th Infantry Regiment in the 90th Division in Normandy. On June 13, 1953, he married Mary Fragnito of Solvay. They enjoyed 46 years of marriage until her death in 1999. Joe was also predeceased by his brother, Michael. Joe was a meat cutter by trade, working at various grocery stores in the Syracuse area. Upon retirement, he went on to work at Thanos Imports, which was by far his most rewarding job. Joe is survived by his children; Diane Iamondo, of Rome, Joyce Feeney, of Solvay, Paul (Lynne) Iamondo, of Warners, Joseph Jr. (Annette), of Westvale and son-in-law, Tim Feeney. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Christopher, Elizabeth, Michael, Daniel, Lauren (Doug), Matthew, Emily (Patrick) and Hannah and his greatest love, his great granddaughter, Rylee. The family would like to thank the staff of Syracuse Home for their care and compassion. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, February 9th at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Ave, Solvay. Funeral Services will be held 8:45 am Thursday, February 10th at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated 9:30 AM at St. Marianne Cope Parish-St. Cecilia Church, 1001 Woods Rd, Solvay. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
