ROBERT W. HURD

Robert W. Hurd, of Syracuse, NY, passed away Tuesday morning (June 11, 2024) at Syracuse Home at McHarrie Place. Robert was born in Solvay on June 22, 1941, son of the late Raymond and Margaret (Liggett) Hurd. Robert graduated from Solvay High School where he met his wife Rose Anne DiNapoli of 58 years. He graduated from Central City Business Institute where he then worked as a purchasing agent for Goulds Pumps in Baldwinsville as well as many other businesses around the Syracuse area throughout his career. Robert was an avid bowler. He was in a Monday night league at The Valley Sports Center in Syracuse for many years. He so much enjoyed getting together with his friends and competing for the win each week. His high score back in 1974 was a 297. Robert was also an avid baseball fan, following Australian baseball players in the Major League. He also enjoyed family outings to Syracuse Mets games with family, children and grandchildren. Robert loved to read and work in his home office. His love of World War II aircraft is seen through his many book collections as well as the documentaries he loved to watch. He loved to collect trinkets of all sorts throughout his life including baseball cards, Matchbox cars and coins. His love of yard work was seen in the beautiful landscape at their Syracuse home throughout the years. His favorite was his beloved rose bushes. His joy in life was camping at Fair Haven Beach State Park each summer for over 35 years. His favorite was cabin camping and spending time with family and friends around the campfire making s'mores and planning where to go for the best garage sales each day. He loved to take his kids fishing throughout the years and that love was kept alive as he took his grandchildren fishing as well. Robert is survived by his four children, Christopher (Dedra), of Baldwinsville, Jeffrey (Jill), of Syracuse, Brian (Kylie), of Sydney, Australia and Sharon (Justin) McArthur, of Phoenix, NY and a brother, William (Pacy) Hurd, of Solvay; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM Monday June 17, 2024 at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Avenue. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday June 18, 2024 at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME. Robert will be laid to rest in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.
