MICHAEL J. MATTICIO

Michael J. Matticio, 86, of Solvay, NY, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Upstate University Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Michael was born March 5, 1940 in Syracuse, NY to the late Antonio and Luisa (Merola) Mattiaccio. Michael graduated from North High School. As a young man, he worked at the historic Roma Bakery in Syracuse. He married his beloved wife, Angela E. (Artini) Matticio, on February 11, 1961, and together they spent 63 beautiful years of marriage raising their family in Syracuse. Michael was employed for many years as the Operations Manager at Syroco in Baldwinsville until his retirement. Following his retirement, he also worked part-time for the Solvay School District. A man who truly enjoyed working and keeping busy, Mike possessed a natural sense of humor; he loved nothing more than chatting, joking, and sharing a laugh with everyone he met. He had an amazing ability to fix anything and thoroughly loved tinkering with his electronic toys. Above all, he was a devoted family man who took immense pride in his children, grandchildren, home, and lake house. Michael was a lifelong communicant of St. Cecilia Church and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. Michael was predeceased by his beloved wife, Angela E. Matticio, who passed away on March 1, 2024; and his son, Mark Matticio. Michael is survived by his daughter, Christine (Tom Curtin) Matticio; his son, David (Karen) Matticio and granddaughters, Sarah and Julia Matticio; his daughter-in-law, Debbie Matticio and grandson, Brenin Matticio; his sister, Rose Bonk; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The Matticio family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the awesome nursing staff on floor 6B at Upstate University Hospital for their compassionate care and kindness. The Rite of Committal and Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Warners.
