MARION (KENNEDY) SMITH

Marion Smith, 92, of Fairmount, NY, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025. Born on July 25, 1932, Marion lived a life filled with love and devotion to her family and friends. For 72 years, she was the beloved wife of Roy "Jack" Smith, with whom she built a life centered on faith, love, family, and tradition. Together, they proudly raised their three children, John (Chris Winahradsky) Smith, of Clay, NY, Timothy (Sandy) Smith, of Camillus NY, and Laurie Houde (David Siracusa), of Camillus, NY. They also raised from a young age Marion’s sister, Kathy. Marion had a passion for crafting and was well known for her beautiful hand-knit sweaters, blankets, hats, and mittens. For many years, she had a booth at the Jordan Fall Festival, where she shared her work and enjoyed meeting other local artists. She also had a love for puzzles, completing intricate 1,000-piece designs well into her later years, and enjoyed working on diamond art projects. Marion is survived by her devoted husband, Jack; her three children; her sister, Kathy Pharis; her grandchildren, Jed Smith, Travis (Nina) Smith, Daniel (Gretchen VanSlyke) Paquette, Cory (Renee) Smith, Sarah (Matthew) Schlegel, Stephanie (Wade) Malicky, Olivia (Matthew) Nabinger, Salvatore Siracusa, and William Laurie; her longtime friend, Michelle Laure; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Dorothy (Coon) Kennedy; sisters, Marge (Mauris) Cometti and Audrey (Bill) Contegni, as well as her daughter-in-law, Colleen Smith. Marion’s life was a testament to kindness, creativity, and dedication to her family. Her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched, the warmth of her handmade creations, and the cherished memories shared by those who loved her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Wednesday March 12, 2025 at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr, Syracuse 13219. She will be laid to rest in Belle Isle Cemetery, Camillus.
