FRANCES K. (KOGUT) MAESTRI

Frances “Fran” Maestri, 95, of Howlett Hill, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on July 10th. Fran was born on Easter Sunday, April 20, 1930 to Joseph and Frances Kogut of Syracuse. Fran attended Sacred Heart School, graduated from Blodgett Vocational High School, and was a lifelong resident of the Syracuse area. She worked as a legal secretary. Fran was a loving wife to John B. Maestri for 68 years, during which they enjoyed dancing, traveling, entertaining, golfing, and bowling. Together, they raised three daughters whom she loved dearly. Fran was a very active member of the Westvale and Tuscarora Golf Clubs, where she was renowned for her unique poetic golf blessings, and a longtime parishioner of St Joseph’s Church of Camillus. Fran was very proud of her Polish heritage and prepared many delicious Polish holiday meals. She was also a naturally gifted pianist. Fran was predeceased by her parents; husband, John; sisters, Nellie (Joe) Ducar and Josephine (Zig) Godzwon; brother, Stanley (Ann) Kogut; sister-in-law, Tina Maestri, and brother-in-law, Bert (Pat) Maestri. Fran is survived by her beloved daughters, Rebecca (Jean Hacken), of Arlington, VA, Sheila, of Syracuse, and Jacqueline (David, Jr) Marrs, of Marietta, her treasured grandchildren Andrea (Anthony) Markusz and John (Hannah Comstock) Marrs, and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Fran greatly appreciated the many years of exceptional care and friendship she received from her saintly caregivers Shelly, Tina, Kathy, Marilyn, and Angie. Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Monday July 14, 2025 at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Avenue, Solvay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 AM Tuesday July 15, 2025 at St. Marianne Cope Parish-Our Lady of Peace Church, 203 Halcomb St. in Lakeland. Private burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
