CAROLE MAE (LAWTON) GIEBLER

Carole Mae Giebler, 87, of Lakeland, “slipped the surly bonds of Earth” and entered into Heaven on October 31, 2022 after a sudden decline in health. She was born on October 14, 1935, in Syracuse, New York, to parents Bradford J. and Ethel C. (O’Dell) Lawton. She graduated from Vocational High School and worked as a secretary at Acme Markets. In 1955, she married her high school sweetheart. After raising their three sons, she worked for her husband’s remodeling company. She was a long-time member of Delaware Street Baptist Church and Fay Road Baptist Church. She loved to sing and was in the church choir for many years. She was currently a member of Mission Hope Community Church in Camillus, New York. She adored her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She used to take her grandchildren on long walks around the neighborhood and even through the fields and woods. She also took all five grandchildren to the movies (with a large bag of candy), and to play miniature golf, where she always had the lowest score. She loved celebrating birthdays with parties as family and friends were all together for the celebration. Carole was a member of Order of the Eastern Star for 68 years, serving as Chaplin for a time; Order of the Amaranth, serving as Prelate, and Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She was also a member of the Belle Isle Cemetery Board of Trustees for many years. She was a friend to those in need, or a second mother to anyone who needed her to be one. She has truly touched many lives. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Bernice Phillips, and her brother, James Lawton. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Jack L. Giebler, who was always by her side during her many health issues; her brother, Terry (Susie) Lawton, of Pennellville; her three sons, Jack Jr. (MaryLou), of Clay, Gary (Barbara), of Phoenixville, PA, and Kevin, of Clay; five grandchildren: Darryl Giebler, Stephanie (Adam) Grube, Todd Giebler, Robyn (Salvatore) Wenman, and Brian Giebler and Jordan Peterson; five great grandchildren: Lena, Natalie, Hannah, Nolan and Logan; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call from 9:00 – 11:00 AM Friday, November 4th, 2022 at Mission Hope Community Church, 23 Main St, Camillus, NY 13031. Funeral and Eastern Star services will be held immediately following at 11AM at church. Interment will follow in Belle Isle Cemetery, Camillus.
